Lazy Day

Drew said to me tonight, "We've had a lazy day." And that we definitely have had! We actually slept until 7:15 (that's late for us on Sunday morning) Went to church, ate sandwiches for lunch and then he got on the couch with the race on mute and I got on our bed and we took a good long nap. He actually went to WalMart with me for groceries too! We came home, grilled out and made homemade vanilla ice cream and sat on the front porch and ate it. Hannah has been in Meadville since Friday so we have just hung out all weekend. Friday we went to Laurel and spent the night with his cousin Jay and wife Susan. Susan was one of my best friends in high school. Who knew we'd marry 1st cousins! They're kids were gone also, so we had a complete adult weekend..doesn't happen very often!
This week should be very interesting for us....Not sure this closing on the house will happen because of circumstances that have arisen with the buyers...but we'll see! I'll keep you posted.

Sno Cones!

ok..picture yourself in WalMart or Target..you pass an end cap of sno cone makers..the kid says, "Hey, let's get ones of these, pleeeeeease!!" You keep on pushing your buggy and say, "No, maybe later..." Well, let me tell you folks, I finally gave in to getting one of these little babies and now I feel really dumb for not getting one before now. We've worn the poor thing out since Monday! Just plug it in..put your own ice cubes in..it shaves it into cone cups or you can use regular cups...put on your juice and you've got Sno Biz right in your own home. Walmart has the different flavor syrups on clearance right now too! I'm telling you...buy this thing...you'll be the coolest thing since sliced bread!!

Dog Days of Summer

Those days are here...being outside just isn't enough...you HAVE to be in the water. Hannah and her little side kick Makayla, plus doggy friend Golden Retriever, Amma went for a swim today. Amma just lost her brother to cancer and is in much need of attention...which she got plenty of today!

We should know something on our house this week...things kinda fell apart last week with the buyers, but I feel pretty hopeful about it now. I'll post updates! Makes me real antsy knowing we are supposed to be moving next Thursday and there is still so much left to be packed!

We are trying to get Hannah's things ready for school. New backpack and pencil bag, etc. I always loved getting new school stuff. Hannah grew this summer so I'll have to move some buttons and let elastic out of her uniform skirts. Can anyone tell me why it is that kids grow so much during the summer??

Road Trip

My parents made one of their many roadtrips last week. They took along Hannah and a friend. Hannah did a book report last year on Helen Keller and enjoyed learning about her life. I did also! VERY interesting if you haven't read about her already. They went to Tuscumbia, Alabama (Helen Keller's hometown) and toured her birthplace and saw a play. My dad took several pictures along the way.....I'm sure with the intent for me to blog about them...Hannah called me twice during the week wanting to bring home stray animals that they saw along the way. One kitten they played with at my grandmother's and one stray dog that lived at the hotel they stayed at in Alabama.....which I understand RAN after their car when they left. Can you get that visual?? I know...I know...gives me a lump in my throat too!!! We have all the animals we can handle right now!

Not doing so well on the Atkins anymore...but I did shed about 5 pounds...just enough to give me a little jumpstart and motivation. Just trying to stick to lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. I could eat a tomato sandwich every day during the summer and be happy. Well, I need to go pack some more boxes!!

Family Day

Today was Family Day for the Hernando Infantry Unit that Drew is the Commander of. It was nice to meet some of the guys that Drew talks so much about and their wives also. There are alot of young guys in the unit that have not deployed before so this day was very useful for them...There were several speakers on the ins and outs of a deployment and handling things in the midst of your spouse's absence...alot of things I wished I had known the first go round. Something that really got me today was a presentation they made to a young boy. Ty is a St. Jude patient with leukemia. He is VERY interested in the Army National Guard. Make A Wish Foundation let Drew's unit know about this young man and they made it possible for Ty to be inducted into the unit...right down to the uniform with patches. He had a certificate and everything. The look on this young mans face was priceless and his parents as well. They told us later that we had created a monster by doing this!!! She said he will probably never take this uniform off! His sister, Samantha (and donor) was there also and was a match for his bone marrow. What a sweet little family!

Blogger's Block

wow...say that three times real fast... I'm sure you professional bloggers have had this before...just nothing to blog about...or at least nothing you'd care sharing with the free Internet world. Guess that's where I am. Hard day for me today...on many levels...That's all I've got to say about that. On a much lighter note...hope I'm not jinxing us by sharing this...but we got a contract on our house!! It's been on the market for over a year..we go to the beach and get an offer while we are there. It's all happening very fast because they want to close July 31. We made an offer on a house in Lake Caroline....hey, it's way out of our league...probably won't have enough furniture to fill it, but it was a foreclosure, so we are getting a sweet deal. Pray that it all goes through smoothly. I'm not a huge fan of any type of change, so I'm stressed to the max as far as that is concerned. It's just me and the boys here this week. Drew is in Little Rock working, Hannah is with my parents on a short adventure....Trying to work alot to keep my mind occupied. Guess I had better start packing some boxes. Anyone wanna help?????

Celebrate your Freedom!

This flag is stuck in the sand right in front of our condo..July 4th never really meant a whole lot to me...other than it being the day before my birthday!! :) But oh does it have a different meaning for me now! We have so much to be thankful for living in America. This beach trip is pretty special for our family because it is the last family trip we will be able to take before Drew deploys again. He'll leave again sometime in the beginning of the new year for Iraq. After being apart before..we tend to cherish times like this. So today...be thankful that you live in America...free to worship our Lord when and where you please..be thankful that you have clean water to drink and a bed to sleep in....be thankful that you don't have to live in fear of your children hearing and seeing gunfire on a daily basis...but most of all, be thankful that God is bigger than any war that could ever be...

Beach

I finally got this silly computer up and running. We are having a ball a the beach and will be coming home in a couple of days. I think we always come home with more stuff than we got here with. NOT looking forward to the ride home. Gotten lots of funny pictures and eaten lots of good food. Tried to stay on Atkins as much as possible and done a pretty good job trying. Hannah swims all day and plays. The boys usually hang with me and soak up the sun. There is a particular "patriotic" young lady that comes to the pool in a tiny American flag bikini that they enjoy watching. The first time she came out, Matthew said, "God Bless America!" (Your day of raging hormones is coming sooner than you think Hadleys!!) (see Katrice's blog of her cute little boys!) The day is usually ended with looking for crabs on the beach. We'll be home Saturday and I'll posts more after that!!
